Jessica Stern
Medical Director
Jessica Stern, MD is a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist with the Brookline Center for Community Mental Health and the CEDAR Clinic, where she is the Medical Director. Dr. Stern provides psychiatric evaluations and individual care to children, adolescents and adults with psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. Dr. Stern provides case consultations for providers in the community and does supervision/teaching for BIDMC psychiatry residents.
Academic: Dr. Stern is an Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, appointed through Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Stern earned her undergraduate degree in English at Barnard College, Columbia University. She attended medical school at New York Medical College. She completed her general psychiatry training at the Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency Training Program (Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital). She completed a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Cambridge Health Alliance. Dr. Stern also completed a one-year fellowship in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute.
Clinical and Clinical Research Interests: Over the course of her residency and fellowship training, Dr. Stern worked to create a clinical focus and expertise in treating adolescents with early onset and emerging psychotic disorders. She has experience treating adolescents in the context of their family systems with individual therapy, group therapy, parent guidance work and psychopharmacology. She has experience working with CBHI teams and school-based clinicians. Dr. Stern worked as an attending psychiatrist on the inpatient child and adolescent psychiatry service at Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) where she saw patients with complex trauma, mood disorders, psychotic spectrum disorders, ADHD, ASD, and anxiety disorders. Clinical interests include diagnosis and treatment of major mental illness in adolescents as well as providing psychotherapy to those young patients facing the challenge of complex and longstanding psychiatric illness.
