B-SNIP Study Featured in Scientific American Mind

Scientific American Mind has published an article on the B-SNIP study, a large-scale, NIH-funded study that aims to discover how the risk for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder is transmitted in families, identify the most relevant genes and environmental factors and determine how these factors affect brain structure and function, personality, and cognitive abilities.

PREP Program Receives Funding Boost

The Prevention and Recovery in Early Psychosis (PREP) program has received a 5% increase in federal funding, which it will use to expand early intervention efforts across the state.

New Clinical Tool to Help Predict Risk for Psychosis

A new risk calculator can predict an individual’s risk of developing psychotic disorders as accurately as those that assess risk of heart disease and cancer. The new calculator was developed in part from data collected during the NAPLS study, which involved collaborators from nine sites, including Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC).

Cognitive Challenges Can Be Early Symptoms

An authoritative new study lead by CEDAR Program Advisor Larry Seidman, Ph.D. has found that cognitive challenges are present in the early stages of psychotic disorders before the onset of psychosis.

Learn how mental health affects us all at Many Faces of Our Mental Health, a new exhibit at Boston’s Museum of Science by visual artist and mental health advocate Lynda Cutrell.

Artwork on display includes two sculptures, four videos, six paintings, and ninety-nine portraits.
